RemoveIT is a FREE up-to-date antivirus

RemoveIT is a free software program that does a great job. It removes trojans and worms. You can download it (for Windows) from here.

Many PC users are tired of continually dealing with the bombardment of viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, etc, etc. Many have decided they would rather switch then fight and have moved to Apple. Although the Apple platform is better against viruses, the virus developers primary focus is to develop viruses designed to attack common computers, with the Wintel PC being the most popular.

If someday Apple computers are more common than PC's, I think they will be the next objective of viruses. But today, viruses are exclusively for PCs.

I use a very good free antivirus Avira AntiVir, which can be downloaded from here, is a resident software (that remains in memory) monitoring the the PC, looking for any viral activity). I am happy with it and several times has stopped the activity of the viruses that might attack my hard drive.

But I don't know very well why these softwares that reside in memory are not very good detecting trojans or worms. These virus variants escape from their algorithms. So in addition to having installed the Avira Antivir, I use RemoveIT SE occasionally, (SE stands for Free Edition or Small Edition). The free version doesn't stay in memory, but it has to be executed once in a while, when the user remembers to use it. The commercial edition stays resident and monitors the activity of the computer.

Well, at least 95% of the cases, RemoveIT removed the trojans or worms that may have been installed on my hard drive. So I recommend it. It's graphics are not cool but its effectiveness is excellent. Perhaps they focus more on programming and I think that's right.
