Automator, Apple's robot, powerful and underutilized |
Apple has a tool called Automator that is present in the system from the Tiger version (Mac OS X 10.4) but I do not know anyone who uses it. So this article aims to introduce a simple example of its use so that anyone who reads it is encouraged to use it.
The truth is that their use is quite simple and can solve many repetitive tasks.
In this example we will create a workflow that will allow us to resize an image from the finder, the operation is as follows, you have to drag actions that are grouped by themes in the left column to the right column.
This allows us to create a script, which run Apple's robot with a single click.

|
We use for this example the action "Get Selected Finder Items" and then drag the action "adjust image size" to the right, trying to remain chained as in the screenshot (sorry but the captures are in Spanish). In the box size in pixels, type the number of pixels we want the resulting images. This will be the width of the image. Having done these two steps, you can save the flow, and we keep it as module finder, make sure to choose "Save As" module, placing as the name "444 px wide" |
|
| Once saved as a module, appears in the finder menu, under More / Automator and we can apply it on the images you want them sizing 444 pixels wide. |
